I Want Your Thoughts...

Hey, hey :)

I have an idea for an article I want to write, but before I do so, I wanted to know what you all thought of when you hear the word "abuse." What constitutes as abuse, in your opinion?

Let me know!

  1. Verbal or physical assaults beyond the stretch of reason; Anything that constitutes as a means to belittle someone to a point of inferiority.

  2. I agree with Heather in that verbal abuse is an action that is meant to belittle someone. Though physcial abuse is more about having control over someone and using fear.

  3. I agree with Heather. Its demeaning someone in a verbal sense and physically attacking someone to the point of injury, whether its in the form of a bruise or swollen eye.

  4. I feel that definitions of what abuse is can really run the gamut. I feel like psychological abuse can be just bad, if not worse, than physical. I feel as though psychological/emotional abuse leaves scars that are more than skin deep.

  5. That being said, the two often go hand-in-hand. Physical abuse can be twisted into being psychologically abusive and vise-versa.

  6. I would classify abuse as any psychological, physical, and/or verbal harm used in any shape to cause pain to another person. Are you trying to find a topic for another post? I'd really like to see what you have to say on the subject if you do.

  7. When I think "abuse" I think of something that is hurtful to someone else, usually intentional hurt. I agree that it can be mental or physical--abuse is not always just those scars we can see. I definitely agree that emotional abuse is worse than physical in some ways. Both types, I think, are about control.

  8. Abuse can be anything from inflicting physical pain or emotional pain on a person. Telling someone they are fat, ugly, stupid .. is considered abuse to me IF someone continues to say those things to one person.
